The project of distance adoption, named "Phoenix project", supplies economic support to children/teenagers on extreme poverty who live in the Igoma Mission – Mwanza, Tanzania. The provided support allows children and teenagers to attend the school structures where, in addition to receiving an education, the uniform and the didactic material, they can count on someone who takes care of their hygiene, with particular attention to their sanitary conditions, as well as the certainty of a meal per day. The quote paid by the adopting families is 210 € per year, and it includes the following: scholastic uniform, didactic material, meals, visit to the dispensary, tablets or drips to treat malaria, care for the hygiene and some antibiotics. The volunteers of the Association perform outreach activities and they look for the supporting families; they raise and send the funds; they provide assistance and monitor the activities at the mission of Igoma-Mwanza (Tanzania) attended by the children and youngsters to whom the support is intended; they gather the material through didactic labs, organized and set forth by our local referents (conossian fathers) and the volunteers of Smile Africa with an information gathering program, including photos, drawings and works of the supported children to be delivered to the Italian families.
